All of services are free, confidential, and voluntary. SACFL services are open to all members of the community, including people of all backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, and immigration statuses. To make our services accessible, free childcare is available to our clients during their meetings at our office at 513 West Union St., Suite 102, Newark NY, 14513 (directions).

🏡 Domestic Violence Shelter
To complete an eligibility screening, call our 24/7 Crisis Hotline. SACFL provides emergency, temporary, safe housing for adults of all genders and their accompanying children who are currently experiencing domestic violence.

⚖️ Help With Legal Filings
Staff can help file for protective orders and assist with other family court matters.
Staff can help you file a petition for an order of protection for you, your children, and your pets. Additionally, we can assist with custody/support orders and modifications, knowing your rights during the process, and access to more advanced legal services. 🛟 Safety Planning
Staff are available to help you create a safety plan tailored to your situation.
Safety planning helps develop tools and plans in advance of potentially dangerous situations. They include information specific to you and your life and can increase your safety.

Case Management helps you access available community resources such as housing, employment, child care, clothing, food, transportation, and other needs.
🛣️ Long Term Housing Help
Whether you’re in immediate need of housing or looking for a long-term solution after you stay in our shelter, we can:
- Assist with applying for rental assistance programs
- Help with housing searches
- Provide information and referrals to housing support services
🚔 Support During Police Interactions
Our advocates can help you with talking to the police and knowing your rights .
- Assistance over the phone 24/7
- Accompaniment during business hours to police stations
- Safe and confidential reporting to police from our office, with advocacy support available throughout the process. (During business hours)
🏥 Support at the Hospital
- 24/7 accompaniment to the emergency room during a Sexual Assault Forensic Exam (SAFE/SANE exams)
- In-person advocacy and emotional support at the emergency room during business hours for clients seeking care for injuries related to domestic or sexual violence
📨 Address Confidentiality
SACFL can assist with registering for the address confidentiality program (ACP), which is provided by New York State. This program provides eligible participants with a substitute address and free mail forwarding to keep their real address safe.
🐾 Pet Safety.
SACFL knows that having to leave a pet behind can be an enormous barrier to finding safety. We provide help to find safe housing, boarding, or fostering for any pets displaced due to domestic violence.
- Help finding temporary foster homes
- Partnerships with local animal shelters, veterinarians, and boarders
- Referrals to free and discounted boarding
